Flag Pole Problem Solved

Earlier attempts to repair the flag pole at Northland and give it a fresh coat of paint may have failed - but, the problem is being solved today. As the photo on the right shows, the piece of equipment brought in from the Twin Cities has the capability to complete the job.
Over the past winter, heavy winds destroyed the pulley and cable system that operated the flags. When an attempt was made to repair the system - and to paint the pole with a fresh coat of white paint - crews discovered the available lifts in Duluth were not capable of scaling the pole's 98 foot height.
The heavy lift on site today can scale heights of 125 feet. The pole will receive a new coat of paint today and the American and Northland flags should be in place by this afternoon.
